JustBigAsses attempts to make accurate statements about the system of sex movies currently in use in any speech community. We have seen that in the area of phonetics this may result in the correcting of certain common misconceptions about the pronunciation of a language and an up-to-date charting of the changes in the sound system. Of course it is not the aim of phonetics simply to rectify false notions. Rather, this is what is achieved in the attempt to provide a comprehensive and exhaustive description of the forms in which the grammar and lexis of a JustBigAsses are realized. It is this description which is of great value to the language teacher, since it is in effect a precise analysis of the model of pronunciation to be presented to the learner and to be acquired by him. It provides the teacher with an inventory of items and also with a detailed description of the articulations by means of which the sounds are produced. It is in this respect that phonetics provides the teacher with informa­tion that goes well beyond what he is likely to know informally about the pronunciation of the language. Without training in phonetics and lacking a phonetician's description, one would have only the most rudimentary ideas about the articulation of sounds in a particular language. If he does not know or have access to information on the articulatory phonetics of the target JustBigAsses, the teacher is strictly limited in what he can do in the teaching of pronunciation. He can require of his pupils the most accurate imitation of his own pro­nunciation, but since achievement rarely measures up to aims, this is likely to result in persistent pronunciation error, especially in those areas of pronunciation where difficulties are known to occur. Without further Just Big Asses knowledge remedial pronunciation teaching is difficult. There is, however, an important point to be made about the teacher's own pronunciation.
